Minutes of the Uffington Parish Council Meeting held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 9th January 2019

 

1. Present: Cllr Brown – Chairman, Cllr P Genever, Cllr Sheehan, Cllr Babbs ,Cllr K Genever, Cllr Dodsworth, Cllr P Genever, Cllr R Trollope-Bellew, Cllr K Cooke, Clerk – Mrs L Thurston (Minutes).

3. Matters arising

Defibrillator

Listed building consent granted.

Clerk has approached Red Cross to enquire about training.

Play area

Fencing has been completed. Thanks to Cllrs Babbs, Sheehan and Brown. Hedge to be cut back.

Bin

Cllr Cooke is able to source the correct locking tool.

Roads and paths

Greatford Road potholes have been mended. Footpath adjacent to play area has had grit

cleared by residents. Condition of footpath in Bertie Lane opposite the pub noted. Anglian Water & Highways still in discussion about Lindsey Road area. Clerk to contact Highways.

Litter picker

Previous litter picker has resigned. Replaced by Jayne Hartley.

 

4. Correspondence

Newstead Broadband. LCC have formerly added Newstead to their contract with BT Openreach for full fibre broadband.

National Joint Council for local government has introduced a new pay level effective from 2 April 2019. It was agreed that the clerk would be paid at £9.77 an hour from this date. Prop: Cllr Babbs. Sec: Cllr Dodsworth.

Towers and Spires costs have risen. Councillors agreed that this was a valuable village resource and agreed in principle to fund some of the costs. Prop: Cllr K Genever Sec: Cllr P Genever.

 

7. Planning

Planning permission and listed building consent granted.

S18/1433 & S18/1434. Mr J Genever – The Bertie Arms. Demolition of concrete garages, erection of front boundary fence and gates, festoon lighting, construction of concrete slab with retaining wall and fence above to serve as storage area, siting of 2no. storage containers and coldroom, alterations to chimney and fireplace, installation of a defibrillator, extension of external seating area and landscaping works.

Decision notice received – modified work allowed following comments from Parish Council.

S18/2172 Mr N Turner, The Rectory, 67 Main Road. Remove Yew (2x) Laburnum),2x Conifers, Yew, Elm. Cut back T7 by 1m and reshape crown of Holly by 0.5m.

Decision notice received – work allowed

S18/2193 Mr J Shackell, The Old Rectory, 2 Greatford Road. Fell Walnut tree, reduce Laurel to 12ft height and remove plum tree.

Comments made by parish council no decision notice received.

S18/2233 Mr Horne, Trees Along The Welland Public Footpath. Fell Ash tree, Coppice, Crack Willow to 1m above ground level, repollard pair of Crack Willows, fell Crack Willow to 3m high stump and fell pair of Ash to 2m high stump.

10. Any Other Business

Speed sign. This requires charging every 3 weeks. More volunteers are needed to help to remove and replace it.

Flooding . From Main Road to Number 19 Casewick Lane – Clerk to report

Pot holes. This is an ongoing problem throughout the parish. Reports can be made via:

Parish council elections will be held in May. Potential candidates are needed to join the Parish Council.
