Work on overhead electricity line between Cottam in Nottinghamshire and Ufford in Cambridgeshire

Some essential refurbishment work is needed on our overhead electricity line between Cottam Power Station in Nottinghamshire and Ufford, near Peterborough.

As some of the work will take place in our parish please see below for more information.

The work involves replacing the wires that run between the pylons over a 90km stretch, as well as some work on the pylons themselves. This is essential refurbishment work which will ensure that the line continues to provide a reliable supply of energy to homes and businesses in the area in the years to come.

The main work will take place between March and September, however over the coming weeks, you may see National Grid/Morrison Energy Services staff and contractors in the area as they begin preparatory and access work.

Most of the overhead line runs through farmland, where access will be agreed with the grantors. Where a need to temporarily divert any footpaths or bridleways, they will ensure that we are notified in advance.

The aim will be to substantially complete work by November 2022.

This work will have no impact on power supplies in the area during the proposed refurbishment period.

There is currently in progress a project website where you can keep up to date with the work, once this is live details will be sent out. You can also find out about our Community Grant Programme which is aimed at community organisations and charities in the areas we are working.
